In this tutorial I’ll be showing you how to implement another of ARCore1.2’s new features which Augmented Images. Now as fancy as this name may sound, it is actually just a fancy way to say Image Marker-based detection. This is not anything new in the AR industry, in fact Vuforia and Wikitude have been doing this for ages. I even have courses on Augmented Reality using Vuforia and another one that mixes AR with Internet of things. To compare between ARCore and Vuforia which I have used extensively, I can say that in terms of detection, ARCore seems a bit slow. So, if I move the image, it takes a while for the virtual game object to re-adjust. However, where ARCore excels is in its motion tracking of the target. So, keeping the target stationary on a wall for example, I can move around as much as I want, spin around and go crazy but the game object will still be anchored to the same place, which is really cool. With Vuforia, it will lose the virtual object, unless you activate its smart terrain, ground plane or extended tracking options. So essential Vuforia constantly looks for the image marker also known as tracking by detection where as ARCore detects the object once, creates an anchor in 3D space and uses motion tracking to fix and maintain game object in its designated place. Let's now implement a video on wall using augmented images. ------------------------------------------------------------ Support us on Patreon ►AugmentedStartups.info/Patreon Chat to us on Discord ►AugmentedStartups.info/discord Interact with us on Facebook ►AugmentedStartups.info/Facebook Check my latest work on Instagram ►AugmentedStartups.info/instagram Learn Advanced Tutorials on Udemy ►AugmentedStartups.info/udemy ------------------------------------------------------------ To learn more on Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality IoT, Deep Learning FPGAs, Arduinos, PCB Design and Image Processing then check out http://augmentedstartups.info/home Please Like and Subscribe for more videos :)
